A Moment in Bloom: BUNCHED Featured on the Cover of Our Place Magazine

Recently, BUNCHED was featured on the cover of Our Place Magazine in a 5-page editorial spread celebrating our approach to preserved florals, local growing, and a more conscious way of buying flowers in New Zealand.

While the feature is a proud milestone for us, what it really represents is something bigger  a growing shift in how people think about flowers, longevity, and where their blooms actually come from.

A Different Way of Thinking About Flowers

BUNCHED began with a simple idea: flowers shouldn’t have to be flown across the world to feel beautiful.

Just like seasonal produce, florals are at their best when they’re grown locally and enjoyed in their natural rhythm. Yet in New Zealand, many flowers are still imported, spending days in transit before they even reach a vase.

We wanted to change that.

Why We Focus on Preserved Florals

At the heart of BUNCHED is preserved florals, something many people are still discovering for the first time.

Unlike dried flowers, preserved blooms are treated at their peak. This process maintains their natural softness, structure, and colour, resulting in flowers that look and feel fresh, but last for months.

Each stem is grown locally, harvested at its best moment, and then carefully preserved through a process that replaces the natural sap with a plant-based solution. It’s a slow, considered craft, and it’s what allows the flowers to hold their beauty long after traditional fresh blooms would naturally fade.

From Growers to Home, Direct

One of the most important parts of our model is that we work directly with New Zealand growers.

There are no long supply chains, no unnecessary handling, and no international freight. Just locally grown flowers, preserved with care, and made accessible through one direct platform.

This approach supports growers first and foremost, while also giving customers something increasingly rare transparency.

You know where your flowers are from. You know who grew them. And you understand the journey they’ve taken.

Being Featured on the Cover

Being featured in Our Place Magazine gave us a moment to pause and reflect on how far this idea has come.

What started as a simple question, why are we importing so many flowers in a country that can grow them so beautifully? has evolved into a growing movement around preserved, seasonal florals grown right here in Aotearoa.

The 5-page feature explored not just our work, but the wider shift happening in the floral industry, towards longevity, sustainability, and more thoughtful design.

What Comes Next

For us, this feature isn’t a finish line,  it’s a reminder of why we started.

We’ll continue working closely with our growers, expanding our preserved collection, and making it easier for people across New Zealand to access florals that last longer, waste less, and feel more connected to where they come from.

Because flowers should be more than fleeting.

They should be considered, local, and made to last.

Preserved. Seasonal. Grown here. BUNCHED.
